Gravity & Different Myths, Roslyn Packer Theater, January eighth
Overview by JILL SYKES
The Pulse is an exhilarating mixture of gymnastics, theater, circus, dance and choral music by the Adelaide-based group Gravity & Different Myths. Time and time once more it affords prodigies of bodily ingenuity and audacity that make you gasp.
Twenty-two acrobatic performers are launched and trapped in torsion flight. They climb on their knees, shoulders and shoulders to achieve as much as 4 in a torrent of human poles, and way more in monumental constructions, from which they descend into fascinating collective descendants.
They work in dazzling teams performing numerous sequences on stage with out ever assembly, and a few of them have dance soloists who present improbable interludes between the meticulously choreographed choreographed hurly-burly that characterizes a lot of the 70-minute present.
It contains 26 singers from Sydney Philharmonia Choirs ’VOX, which strikes between gymnastics artists, a lot of the motion and provides a vigorous rendition of Ekrem Eli Phoenix’s thrilling daring rating.
